Consider the Toshiba 32RV635DB TV

It's amazing to think back to 2008 and realize that this was the year when we saw CRT technology practically vanish off of the map. LCD technology pushed it out and we'll never see it again.

In 2007, we had a pretty balanced spread of CRT and LCD technology. Of course, you could get some great deals then on new CRT TVs. Now, it's pretty tricky to unearth one in most electronics stores and on the internet. In 2008, they were phased out all but completely and now LCD models are by far the most extensively obtainable.

The 32RV635DB is a 3 pin British version of the 32RV635. It is in all other respects identical and all references to the DB version will also pertain to the other.

It is a 32 inch wide screen television designed for an optimum viewing distance of eight to ten feet. The design and appearance of the cabinet on the 32RV635DB make it every bit as beautiful an addition to a room's decor as many higher priced models.

This TV is ideal when handling standard or high definition images. However, some high end game applications may not be best suited.

If you're looking to be environmentally conscious, the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB is the TV for you. Looking to make your carbon footprint a tad smaller? You've found the right television. When you look at the left panel in the back of the television, you'll see the hard disconnect switch. This reduces your typical standby electric usage from about 3 watts per hour to under 1 watt per hour. This is quite impressive when you're trying to help out Mother Earth.

The Toshiba 32RV635DB features a completely new Graphic User Interface (GUI) on its menu screens. The icons and fonts are excellent, well thought out features and the colours are vivid enough to make it easy to see exactly what one is doing when working with the menu.

One adjustment that may need to be made when powering up the 32RV635DB is choosing the aspect ratio one wishes to view programmes at. This is easily accomplished using the remote control.

Now for the downside to this well priced set. The 32RV635DB did show some colour smears during testing. There were also override errors that came up. What this boils down to is a TV that is great for those who are passive television watchers but not so much for those high end gamers.

The 32RV635DB has an above average range of viewing from most angles. The very acute angles show some shifting of colours, but this is to be expected of pretty much any television these days. There is a 1 to 1 pixel mapping with this model, providing incredibly sharp images.

While the 32RV635DB is not one of the high end High Definition TV models on the market, its performance during testing showed it to be ideal for a household seeking a second TV or for day to day viewing purposes. When compared to other sets in the same price range, it outperformed almost all others sets of comparable value.

Some adjustments were needed out of the box before the ideal contrast and colour tones were achieved, but once they were locked in, the set held true to the settings almost perfectly. With a crisp, sharp picture and a wide viewing angle, the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB is an excellent set for most standard household needs.
