But it doesn't necessarily take a huge amount of cash to generate website traffic for your site. This is where the work we mentioned above comes in. Have you ever wondered just how those big name sites drive traffic to their site? Truthfully, most of them are spending huge amounts of money to drive loads of traffic to their sites. They do a lot of different things such as investing in all sorts of advertising campaigns and in many different forms of marketing.
It's important to point out that you don't have to do be expected to do this if you don't really have all their resources (and what regular person does?). There are a lot of different ways to generate low or no cost website traffic. Many people have ended up losing their shirt over high cost advertising methods that didn't work for them so please keep this in mind.
At this time I would like to present you with at least five of the best ways to generate low or no cost website traffic to your site that could help your site. Using any of these methods, even if you only get a small percentage of visitors to your site, is still helpful because you are not putting out much money for this incoming traffic.
1) Exchanging Links
This is one of the older but proven methods. There are only a few times when you would see a site online where there are no links to any other sites. Most webmasters today are more than willing to exchange links with another site so that they can get more backlinks and produce more public awareness about their own website. It is a slow process but in time you'll see traffic coming in to your site from other sites.
One major prerequisite for exchanging links with other sites is making sure that the two sites are in the same niche or at least have similar content. The two sites should both share common subject matter so that there is some form of continuity in both the providing of services and information to whatever interests your target audiences may have.
Another plus is that by exchanging links you also boost your possibility of getting a higher ranking in many search engine results. Search engines will rank sites higher when they have both inbound and outbound theme-related links. And the more of them that you get, the better for you. If you can get a good ranking position in many of the search engines, you will also get more traffic to your your website without the higher costs associated with many advertising plans such as PPC.
2) Traffic Exchange
A lot of people think that this is sort of like a link exchange - but on a very different level. This will cost you more than the usual process of exchanging or trading links but it potentially could be cheaper if you are allowed to earn credits. You could possibly use those credits later when viewing other sites, as you earn more credits when someone views your site.
Traffic exchanging services allow all members to benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic. The other member websites visitors can go visit your web pages and will also learn more about your web site as well. So, once again the more people are aware of your websites existence, the better.
3) Write and Submit Your Own Niche Articles
There are many e-zines, ezine directories and article directories to be found on the internet which will offer you free space for your articles to be submitted. You can save money doing this too if you want to save costs by writing the articles yourself. There are loads of freelance article writers who are willing to write about anything for you for a small fee, but to save your money when starting out, it is best to write those articles yourself.
You want to write articles that are similar to the topic of your web site. Go ahead and write something that you have expertise or a great interest in so that when people read it, they will understand your knowledge about the subject and will be ready to visit your site to learn more. A great tip is to write articles that offer tips, guidelines or steps about the topic of your website.
Don't forget to include a resource box at the bottom of your article that may link to your site or to an affiliate product that you're offering. You'll want to share a little information about yourself and your site. If you provide an easy to read, information-filled and interesting article, more often than not visitors will go to your site to learn more.
4) Create and Send Out a Newsletter
This will probably sound like more hard work than you'll want to do because of all the articles you'll need to create a newsletter. Again, if you don't want to do it yourself, there are many writers and websites out there that are willing to provide free articles for you to use as long as they can get to keep their name in on your newsletter. This provides them free advertising and you free content so it's a win win situation.
As your newsletter gets passed around to different readers, you will also widen the public awareness of your brand and create repeat visitors to regularly visit your website in the future.
5) Join Several Online Communities and Forums
This last step we're discussing today only requires your time and nothing more. Here you can simply share your knowledge and expertise with various online communities. Not only can you get free advertising when done properly but you can share with others and make new friends which will help you in the long run. Just make sure that you go to forums that have the same topic as your website, or are closely related to the topic of your site.
If you share your two cents with them clearly and in a friendly manner and let them see how knowledgeable you really are with the subject area, you will also build up your reputation and that of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that will be visited often as well as being trusted by many people.
Take the time and try a few of these tips and I'm sure you'll see a rise in your sites traffic. Keep in mind that none of these are quick fixes and that each takes time but if you put in the work you'll be rewarded for a long time to come.
