Building An Opt In Email List- The Right Mindset Is Key

I'm sure you want to have a business that lasts for the long haul. There's a lot involved in running a business, but you want to run it to make money day in and day out maximizing your profits while minimizing your work load. One way you can to this for the success of your business is by building an opt in email list. You can talk to just about anyone who is doing well online and they will tell you that building an opt in email list and monetizing it effectively often becomes their bread and butter.

You learn all the great information on list building from your research and your ready to give it a go. You start using all the methods like a mad man (or mad woman) and you actually build a list, but then it stops right there. You have the list, but you still can't monetize it. Everybody says it's so easy, but you feel like you're wasting your time.

Frustrated, you might even be losing money because of the expenses to build the list, maintain it and any other cost associated with building an opt in email list.

You think over and over... 'they say the money is in the list', but it might only be for the chosen few who are building an opt in email list. They must knows something you don't because of your total failure to even profit from your list. So you just say forget it and go on to the next big thing that's supposed to be making people a bundle of cash on the Internet

But... I really want you not to give up on this idea, because I really feel the key to having the success you want online is in building a targeted email list. DON'T give up on this important piece of your business.. ever! Learn how to do it, but the right way like anything is the key to making it work.

So what are the challenges holding you back from building an opt in email list? I'm sure you're already aware that there are many factors that are involved in successfully building an opt in email list and then monetizing it correctly. Other's have written whole courses and books on the details of this subject, but for the purposes of this article, I'm going to explain how you should be thinking even before you use any list building techniques. If you don't have these certain approaches, when building an opt in email list, all the techniques in the world won't help you.

This all-important ingredient is the foundation for your success in building an opt in email list. I'll call it your mindset or the way you approach building a list. There are three very important mindsets that you need to implement in building an email list the right way.

1-Focus on quality and not just quantity.

It might take more effort and thought to methodically attract and add quality subscribers to your list, but it is worth every ounce of sweat to building an opt in email list that's responsive. Have the mindset of only attracting quality. You may have a smaller list, but even a small highly responsive list will outperform a much larger low quality list any day of the week.

But again it's going to take more work in building an opt in email list that's effective and profitable. This article isn't about the how's as much as the mindset or thinking that you use to approach your list. Again if you stick with the proper mindset you will have success.

2-There is only one person on your list. Many list builders make the error of communicating to all on their list like they were in front of them speaking at a convention. DON'T DO THIS. So what do I mean?

Talk to each one of your subscribers as though you wrote that email especially for them. You want your prospects to feel a connection with you as though you were talking to them face to face. Most likely they've joined your list because you can help them in some way. They need you to support them and guide them along. So building an opt in email list really is about the one person. Never think you are too important or successful to maintain this mindset.

Keep this in mind and implement it and you will have loyal responsive subscribers that will trust you and want to respond to what you have to offer.

3-Learn to build for that one perfect prospect and use that system over and over. What I mean by this is to build the squeeze pages, landing pages, marketing and advertising to attract the most targeted prospect. When you have perfected this process, keep doing it over and over.

Take a page from the life of Ray Crock, the founder of McDonalds. You've heard of them haven't you :-). This is a prime example of a man that built a great fast food restaurant. He developed it so he had the optimal experience for customers, hence optimal profits. And only then when he really had it rolling did he franchise it with a system that could be reproduced with the same results over and over.

It's absolutely a waste of time to just haphazardly pull prospects from anywhere, thinking they will eventually act on your offers. They won't and you'll be frustrated. It takes some work to building an opt in email list the right way, but it will be well worth it.

Some concluding thoughts. Building an opt in email list is created with one person at a time. It's best to focus on the one and do that with everyone on your list. Don't act like your a huge business. You might well be big and successful, but don't act so big that your prospects can't connect with you. You need to always be personable and approachable.
