For some reason, I've never found it very easy to adapt to new technologies. I'm not joking, I've only just started using e-mail and instant messaging on a day-to-day basis and the good old written letter still is very appealing to me despite the fact that you have to wait for ages for it to arrive at its destination via post.

It's only now that I've started to use my own personal digital diary to keep track of my notes. So I suppose it shouldn't really come as a surprise that the whole idea of buying a digital camera is something I've been putting off for some time.

But the truth is even I, someone who generally avoids new technologies, have been starting to see the advantages to modern digital photography. I see what all my friends and family can do with their photographs once they have them on their computer, and it just quite simply make me envious.

And more and more recently I've been getting fed up with the limitations of traditional film. When I think back over the years, there are so many times when the advantages the digital camera can bring could have really been helpful. For one I wouldn't have lost a whole load of great photographs due to the fact that some of my film rolls had been damaged leaving the photographs useless.

After deciding that buying a digital camera was the thing for me, I knew the first thing I had to do was research. In my case it was especially important, simply because I'm not one of those people who closely followed technologies. So I started to research what each digital camera manufacture had to offer.

So many people just goes straight out to their closest technology oriented store, pick up something that grabs their eye and then if the price isn't too much for them to pay, proceed to the checkout. You may be thinking this is stupid, surely no one would do that? But I can tell you from my work experience, that people do this day in and day out.

One of the best places to conduct research these days is the Internet, even I have to admit that, so that's where I began. You can find all the information on the different manufacturers and their cameras as well as a whole wealth of real people's reviews.

Once I felt I knew a sufficient amount about the different digital cameras available at my price range I made my decision on which digital camera was best for me. I then proceeded to locate the best possible price, taking into account of course customer service etc. Since these days some of the best prices to be obtained can be located on online stores, this was where I focused my search.

During my research stages I had already read about different online stores, so I knew which places to visit and which to discard. Thanks mostly to my research I was able to obtain a digital camera that was right for me and was at a good price.

Now that I've had the chance to really give my digital camera a good try out, I only wish I had made the change to digital sooner. Now with my digital camera I have so many new options available to me, that I am able to obtain far better photographs then I ever could before.

But as I said before, one of the reasons I really wanted to get a new digital camera was the fact that I'd seen my friends and family doing incredible things with their photographs later on their computers. But I really didn't think I would get use to editing my photographs on my computer, but I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised at just how easy it is to do.

There is no doubt in my mind now that digital photography is a thousand times better than the old traditional film photography, I only wish I'd my the chance sooner. One can only imagine what future technology will end up in our hands.
