What kind of breed should you choose when bringing a dog home? Do you want a dog that is friendly with children? Or do you prefer a dog that is aggressive and could actually be dangerous around the young ones? When choosing a dog you have to be very careful on what the consequences of bringing that dog home could be.
When you are looking for a family dog, you have to choose a breed of dog good with children. Some breeds are not very patient when it comes to the little one and they can pose a threat to them, therefore you should make your diligent research when choosing a dog for your family. Finding a dog that is good with kids is a most is you have little ones at home.
So what are some of the dogs that are good for the family and with children? One of the top dogs is the Labrador retriever. The lab is a big dog, with a bigger heart. They tend to be very gentle, and although when puppies they are hyper they usually calm down around two years of age, turning into a great companion. Labs love to be around kids and they enjoy play time with them. The Lab is very popular with the young, the mature adult, and even the handicapped. The Lab needs plenty of exercise to avoid boredom, so when considering a Labrador retriever this needs to be taken into consideration. If you are a couch potato do not get a Labrador retriever, which will not be a good combination.
Another great breed for a household dog is the Golden retriever. Golden retrievers have similar personalities as the Labrador retrievers. This breed is docile in nature, they are good-hearted, mild mannered, and they love being around people. Just like the Labrador retriever, this breed is great with the disabled and the aged. They're as well extremely amiable in terms of their relationship with other pets. Golden retrievers are extremely intelligent, which makes them easy to discipline. This breed is perfect for a child who enjoys the outdoors because they love playing fetch. Grooming is needed for this breed because it has long hair.
The beagle is another dog that is ideal as a family dog. The beagle is smaller than the Golden retriever and that the Labrador retriever, therefore it is a better option for homes with smaller children. The beagle is a good watch dog because of their wailing bark. So, if you are looking for a good watch dog with is also good with children consider a beagle. They are not aggressive and tend to be very friendly and can be very submissive. They get bored easily so they will need a fair amount of play time and exercise.
In choosing dogs good with children, remember that not all dogs are alike and you have to be very cautious with having unknown dogs around your child. This is why some breeds are labeled are child friendly because these are proven dogs that will do no harm to your children. That is why choosing from these types of breeds ensures that you will have a loyal and safe family dog.
