Forget The Coffee - Go For Green Tea Instead

The most commonly drunk beverages today are water and green tea. Both of which are more often consumed than any other kind of beverage that you can think of. For many centuries now the Japanese and Chinese have realized the importance of including green tea in their dietary requirements. Although used for centuries in Chinese and Japanese cultures green tea has only recently been acknowledged by Western societies of being a beneficial substance for their health.

Although there are plenty of different types of tea a person can choose to drink many are opting for green tea, simply it has a much more refreshing and subtle taste to it. Yet even though both the Chinese and Japanese have been drinking this particular beverage for many centuries the are both different in their taste and color. Where as the tea when being prepared will be baked in an oven in China the tea produced in Japan is produced by steam drying it.

There are many benefits to be had from drinking green tea but it does have some disadvantages as well. The main one being is that it can cause insomnia in those people who drink large quantities of it because it contains caffeine. But certainly the benefits of drinking it far outweigh the disadvantages.

Today more and more people are preferring to drink green tea rather than more traditional varities as well as coffee simply because of what it contains. The properties that are contained within green tea including the various different minerals and vitamins help to a person's body to remain functioning correctly. Plus it contains an anti oxidant agent which can help to remove toxins and other substances that can actually cause health problems in the future. Another major benefit to be had from drinking green tea over coffee is that it contains a chemical called thiamine whose properties are said to have a calming effect on the way in which the brain works. By drinking such a beverage many people have found it much easier to cope with the stresses and strains that modern living places upon them and their body.

It is because it contains high concentrations of vitamins and minerals as well as polyphenols (chemical which has good anti oxidant properties) it has been found to be useful in helping people to lose weight. The reason why this tea is so effective in not only helping people to lose weight but has high anti oxidant and anti cancer properties is because it is unfermented.

Although today you can actually purchase green tea in tea bags it is best to buy it and brew it in the whole leaf form. This allows the properties contained with in the leaves to be infused more easily into the water. But actually choosing the right green tea to use can be somewhat of a challenge as there are so many different varieties now to choose from.

When initially choosing to include green tea into your dietary requirements it is best to start with one such as Sencha from China. This is the most popular of all the green tea types and not only is it affordable but it has a taste that everybody can easily recognize.

Although the Sencha green tea from China has a very subtle and delicate flavor to it there are some people who prefer something a little more robust. Therefore if you want something that is a little stronger as well as being a much thicker liquid to drink you may want to consider trying Myou-Kou which comes from Japan. But both of these teas contain beneficial properties which help towards a person remaining fit and healthy. At the end of the day the green tea a person chooses to drink will be down to their own particular preference. Certainly many people who drink green tea today will try several different types before they actually find one that they truly like.
