Professional help is never sought by seven out of 10 males who suffer from depression. I'm sure that the high suicide rate among men can be contributed to this fact. But there is an 85% satisfaction report from the 30% of men who do seek professional help to get relief from their symptoms of depression.

The symptoms which are displayed in depression in men vary greatly from those displayed in women. For example, men tend to blame others, while women who suffer from depression often blame themselves. In addition, men actively seek to create conflict with others when they are depressed, while women will tend to avoid them.

You must be aware of these distinctions of depression in men. The different depressive symptoms between men and women are important to better evaluate if you are suffering from your own depression, and if you need help.

If you are male, it is important for you to take a heightened perception of depression, because most men are not aware of when they're depressed. If you're a female who is distressed because there is a male in your life who is depressed, it is important for you to encourage them to seek help.

There are many different options to alleviate depression in men. They start with helping a man be able to accept himself, create a sense of purpose in his life, as well as practical things like improvements and exercise and diet.
