For people living in North America, especially the United States, it makes a lot of sense to learn Spanish if you are going to learn a second language. first;y, many Spanish speaking communities exist in the US so you will be able to live and work in these communities if you choose. Also, most of the countries that border or surround the US are Spanish speaking.

In Europe, Spain is a popular tourist destination or place to settle for retired people, so a grasp of Spanish would improve your time spent in the country.

So if you are planning to learn Spanish, you probably want to learn it as quickly as possible. Don't we all. Everybody hates having to learn the word for apple or how to conjugate the verb to sing. We want to be able to talk to people and have a meaningful conversation.

Getting to grips with vocabulary and grammar must be one of the worst jobs in the world. Especially if you have to learn them in a rote fashion.

Learning grammar and vocabulary via these methods are alien to how we learned our native languages. We picked them up through repetition and ultimately a desire to use the language.

This is obvious when you see a young child or baby learning their native language. The child hears his mother speaking words. Eventually he gets the meaning of the words. He soon wants to take part in the conversation. He has the desire to take part.

He may make fumbling attempts to speak the language initially. He watches as his mother forms the words and tries to copy her. Eventually he can say a few words. They may not sound exactly right but he refines the pronunciation by watching and listening to people around him until it sounds right.

Eventually, he will be able to speak simple sentences like 'I want apple'. At this point, he has learned all the skills needed to learn a language. Now his range of speaking will increase at an astonishing rate.

He will learn new words and start using them in his speaking. He will get positive responses from the people he talks to. This will spur him on and he will want to learn more about the language. At this point he will listen to songs and maybe watch cartoons on TV. He will listen to his parents and grandparents. All the time he will be integrating this learning into his grasp of the language. He will never stop learning new things about the language.

Learning a language as child learned his native tongue is best done by immersion learning. Immersion learning is simply going to a country where the language you are learning is the first language.

This might petrify you initially. You are going to a country where you don't speak a word of the language and have to live. It may not be as daunting as you first think as you will probably have some basic words of the language. however the same methods by which a child learned to speak will now apply to you.

You will have no option but to listen to this language. If you want to speak you will have to speak in this language. all the strategies that a child uses to learn his native tongue will be in place for you.

All the things that might hold you back, like feeling stupid or saying the wrong thing will not apply. To be understood you have to try and suddenly you understand why you have to learn. Boring vocabulary learning has a point and a practical application.

Learning a new language is never easy however the desire to communicate will help you through the tough times. If you take a course in the Spanish speaking country then you will also have some support in your desire to learn.

So in my opinion the best way to learn to speak Spanish fast is to go to a Spanish speaking country and take a course. If possible stay in the country after the course has finished. Ideally, you should work and live there for a few months. This will do wonders for your understanding of the language. Continue to study the language. You never stop learning.
