*Home Repair
Most people don't realize how harmful is can actually be to try and fix a Windows registry problem themselves if they don't fully understand the complexity of the system itself. This is because a Windows registry can be fairly simple to make edits to, but if you aren't sure of what you might be getting yourself into you could very easily find that you are now in a messier situation than you were to begin with.
Sometimes, the error message you get when you discover your computer has a registry error tells you the name of the program or the process. Once you have that, you can attempt to find the entry in the registry that's causing the problem. But first, of course, you have to access the registry.
Opening the registry is very easy. Go to Windows, click on run, and type "regedit." This opens up the registry editor and allows you to change anything in the registry that you want. Again, be very careful here! It's very easy to change the wrong registry entry, and that will only make your problems worse. Often, people who don't quite know what they're doing will end up creating even more registry problems even if they fix the original issue.
*Get a computer person to do it for you
Another option, of course, is to go in search of a relative or friend who is a self-proclaimed "computer expert." Here, again, you have to be very careful because some of these experts aren't really as knowledgeable about fixing the Windows registry as they let on. Plus, people are more likely to experiment on your computer instead of their own. If they cause you even more registry problems, they're going to go home to their working computer and leave you stranded.
There are exceptions to this rule, for example, if you do know someone who works with computers as a programmer or IT guy and you trust them with your equipment, then it is probably not a bad idea to give them a call. They will probably have encountered this problem before and know the appropriate registry scanner and other repair software that you could use to fix your problem. It can often be overwhelming when you try to go in and look at all the different options to try and find an appropriate solution on your own, so don't hesitate to call in an experienced friend to help you in this decision.
*Get a repair tool
This is really your best bet. In fact, a Windows registry scanner and repair tool is really the only way you're going to find and repair every single registry problem your computer has. You simply can't go through the entire registry, and even if you could, there's no way to really tell what needs to be changed unless you know every detail about your computer.
The best way for you to find out what Windows registry fixer is the best one for you to use is probably relying on knowledgeable friends and family who may have encountered this problem before or you can go to online research tools like ours. The most important thing that you will need to look for in a repair tool is one that properly scans, repairs, compacts, and backs up the registry.
